William H. Love

Bishop Love is the Ninth Bishop of Albany.  He is noted for his unwavering commitment to proclaim the Gospel and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with all who will receive it, and he has a passion for the Christian Healing Ministry.

He was born and raised in Texas.  Following his graduation from Southwest Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, he served as an Air Intelligence Officer in the United States Air Force.  Following his discharge, earned a Master of Science in Education and following a call ordained ministry, he attended Nashotah House Seminary, graduating in 1991 with a Master of Divinity.  He was ordained a deacon June 1991 and served as the Dean's Vicar at the Cathedral of All Saints, Albany, New York.  He was ordained a priest in 1992, and later that year, he became rector of St. Mary’s Church, Lake Luzerne.  He served as their rector for 14 years until his election as bishop on September 16, 2006.  He became the Ninth Bishop of Albany on February 1, 2007.

Bishop Love’s ministry and service within the Diocese has included Dean of the Southern Adirondack Deanery; member of the Standing Committee, Diocesan Council; Healing Ministry Team at the Christ the King Spiritual Life Center, Greenwich, NY; Priest Associate of the Community of St. Mary, Greenwich, NY;  Happening Spiritual Director, and Clerical Deputy to General Convention.  He has been on short term mission trips to Uganda, Peru, and Bolivia, and until February 2011, he served on the Sharing of Ministries Aboard (SOMA) Board of Directors.

 Bishop Love serves as the President of the Episcopal Charities of Albany and on the Nashotah House Seminary Board of Trustees.

 Bishop Love and his wife, Karen, have been married 29 years and have two children, Chris (Lauren) and Catie, and have one grandson, Peter.

MacKenzie (Mac) was born, raised and always lived in the Massena area. He went to Massena Central Schools and graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College. After 35 years in banking Mac started a new career at Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley. Mac is married to the former Rosemary Hooper and has 3 children and 8 grandchildren. He volunteers for his church and hospital and also with scouts. Mac enjoys biking and exercise and working in his garden and on his lawn.

Organist/Choir Director

James C. Phillips

   James Phillips studied piano and organ with Anne Eberhardt from the age of four. He became an organist at Sacred Heart Church, Massena, at the age of eleven. Mr. Phillips held this post for seven years, playing five Masses every Sunday.

   He attended Crane School of Music and taught music in the schools of Schenectady and Massena for several years. From there he moved to Los Angeles where he was under contract with Columbia Records as a recording artist. While in Los Angeles, Mr. Phillips recorded with several well-known acts and appeared on several national television shows.

   Mr. Phillips returned to Northern New York where he performed and recorded with several musical groups from the area, and in 1991 became organist and music director at Sacred Heart Church.

   Mr. Phillips is currently organist and choir director at both, St. John’s Episcopal Church, and Emmanuel Congregational United Church of Christ, Massena New York.

Lara grew up in a military family and graduated from Indian River Central and Jefferson Community College. She and her husband moved to Massena in 2001 with their 2 daughters. She enjoys making cards and sharing her skills with others. She joined the St. John's family in November 2013.
